Penetration Testing for Universities and Colleges

Pentest: External, Internal, VPN and Moodle

binsec regularly conducts comprehensive penetration tests for universities and colleges. We test both externally accessible services such as web portals, VPN access points, and APIs, as well as internal networks. University networks pose particular challenges: they are often heterogeneous, have evolved over time, and are independently managed by different departments. A precise and flexible testing strategy is therefore essential.

A key focus of our assessments is the protection of sensitive data – especially personal data of students and staff. We review VPN access points with varying privilege levels (staff, students) for potential vulnerabilities and perform targeted analysis of internal systems like Active Directory, including checks for privilege escalation opportunities.

Penetration tests often also include a detailed review of the institution’s Moodle instance, including connected authentication and communication interfaces. Moodle is an open-source course management system and learning platform widely used by universities.

Penetration Testing

Since 2013 we conduct professional penetration test, based on international industry standards and years of experience in penetration testing, red teaming and hacking.

As a company for professional penetration testing, we do some things differently than other pentest provider: As a penetration test firm, we do not sell vulnerability scans as pentest. We do also focus on business security risks. You are looking for a professionally conducted penetration tests? Get the binsec team for your Pentest. Read more about our pentest service.
